Section 177 (traffic signs) is amended as follows.

After subsection (3) insert—

“(3A)

The Secretary of State may direct a strategic highways company to place and maintain traffic signs, or cause traffic signs to be placed and maintained, in connection with a trunk road charging scheme.”

In subsection (4), after “an authority” insert “ or a strategic highways company ”.
