Section 1 Application of ChapterI1

(1)

This Chapter applies where—

(a)

a person is liable to pay a fine or other sum adjudged to be paid by or imposed on a conviction or a sum which is treated for the purposes of any statutory provision as if it were a sum so adjudged or imposed, and

(b)

a court in Northern Ireland imposed the liability to pay the sum or is responsible for enforcing its payment.

(2)

In this Chapter—

  • “the sum due” means the sum mentioned in subsection (1)(a),

  • “the debtor” means the person liable to pay the sum due, and

  • “the outstanding amount” means the amount of the sum due which for the time being remains to be paid.
