Explanatory note

(This note is not part of the Order)

The Independent Television Commission (“the ITC”) has the power, under section 102(1) of the Broadcasting Act 1996, to require a licence holder to pay a financial penalty for breach of section 101(1) of that Act (restriction on televising of listed events). Such financial penalty must not exceed an amount equal to the price which the ITC determine has been paid for the acquisition of the rights in question multiplied by the prescribed multiplier. The Order prescribes one as that multiplier.
