By Local Government Act 1985 (c. 51, SIF 81:1), s. 37, Sch. 11 para. 2(4) it is provided that in this Act references to the Metropolitan Board of Works (which, by virtue of section 48(3) of the London Government Act 1963, were to be construed as references to the Greater London Council) should be construed as references to the London Fire and Civil Defence Authority (in ss. 13, 14, 15, 16, 17, 24, 29, 31 as printed for Statutes in Force the words Greater London Council were printed in the place of the words “Metropolitan Board of Works”and “Board”)
