Section 52 Scottish Fossil CodeI1
SNH must prepare and issue a code, to be known as the Scottish Fossil Code, setting out recommendations, advice and information relating to fossils.
The Code may, in particular, contain information on—
activities which are likely to damage fossils,
circumstances in which fossils should not be removed from land,
the manner in which fossils removed from land should be kept or otherwise treated.
SNH must review the Code from time to time and may, following such a review, revise it.
SNH must—
before preparing the Code, and
when reviewing it,
consult such persons appearing to them to have an interest in the geological features of land and such other persons as it thinks fit.
SNH must—
publish the Code and any revisions to it in such manner (including on the internet or by other electronic means) as it thinks fit, and
promote awareness and understanding of the Code and any revisions to it.
