Article 2 Interpretation

(1)

In this Order:

(a)

“the 1996 Act” means the Police Act 1996^f1;

(b)

“the 1997 Act” means the Police Act 1997;

(c)

“the Authority” means the NCIS Service Authority;

(d)

“chief officer of police” means—

(i)

in relation to a police force maintained under section 2 of the 1996 Act, the chief constable,

(ii)

in relation to the metropolitan police force, the Commissioner of Police of the Metropolis, and

(iii)

in relation to the City of London police force, the Commissioner of Police for the City of London.

(e)

“NCIS” means the National Criminal Intelligence Service;

(f)

“police authority” means a police authority established under section 3 of the 1996 Act and the Common Council of the City of London;

(g)

“the preceding year” and “the relevant year” have the meanings given by articles 4(1) and 3(1) respectively;

(2)

In this Order references to police authorities shall be taken as including references to the Receiver for the metropolitan police district.
