The ONR may consult with an operator on what safeguards equipment is appropriate for a qualifying nuclear facility.

On receipt of a written request from the ONR, an operator must install suitable safeguards equipment in each qualifying nuclear facility to provide independent confirmation that the information recorded by the operator, or provided by the operator to the ONR or to the Agency, is accurate and up to date.
