Explanatory note

These Regulations amend the Police Regulations 1987. Regulation 3(a) increases London weighting with effect from 1st July 1987 and again from 1st July 1988; regulation 3(c) increases pay and regulation 3(d) increases the dog handler’s allowance, both with effect from 1st September 1988 (retrospection is authorised by section 33(4) of the Police Act 1964). Regulation 3(b) provides for records of punishments to be removed from a police officer’s personal record at the expiration of a specified period automatically instead of at the officer’s request where the specified period ends on or after 1st January 1989.
