Paragraph 3 Pensionable service under a police scheme

For the purpose of this Schedule, a transition member (T) is in pensionable service under a police scheme while T is on unpaid leave from the employment to which that service relates.

For the purpose of sub-paragraph (1)—

• “a police scheme” means—

  1. (a)

     the 1987 scheme;

  2. (b)

     the 1988 NI police pension scheme;

  3. (c)

     the 2006 scheme;

  4. (d)

     the existing Scotland police pension scheme;

  5. (e)

     the 2009 NI police pension scheme;

  6. (f)

     the 2015 Scotland police pension scheme; or

  7. (g)

     the 2015 NI police pension scheme; and

• “unpaid leave”, in relation to employment to which pensionable service under a police scheme relates, means—

  1. (a)

     a career break; or

  2. (b)

     any other period of unpaid leave—

     1. (i)

        that does not exceed 5 years; and

     2. (ii)

        during which the employment relationship continues M1.
