Section 23 Short title, commencement and extent.

(1)

This Act may be cited as the Policyholders Protection Act 1997.

(2)

Section 20(1) and (3) above, section 22 above, so far as relating to the M1Friendly Societies Act 1992, and this section shall come into force on the day on which this Act is passed.

P1(3)

The remaining provisions of this Act shall come into force on such day as the F1Treasury may by order made by statutory instrument appoint; and different days may be so appointed for different purposes.

(4)

An order under subsection (3) above may contain such transitional provisions and savings as the TreasuryF2think fit.

(5)

This Act extends to Northern Ireland.
