Levy is not payable for animals imported F1into the United Kingdom and slaughtered within 3 months in the case of cattle and 2 months in the case of pigs or sheep.

Levy is not payable if an animal is subject to compulsory slaughter or the entire carcase is declared unfit for human consumption by the official veterinarian.

Quality Meat Scotland may make provision for a reduction of the slaughter levy and export levy to cover the administrative costs of the slaughterer or exporter in administering the levy.
