The Secretary of State for Work and Pensions makes the following Order, in exercise of the powers conferred by sections 79(3) and (4) and 87(2) of the Social Security Act 1998f1.

1Citation and interpretation

This Order may be cited as the Social Security Act 1998 (Commencement No. 14) Order 2006.

(2)

In this Order, “the 1998 Act” means the Social Security Act 1998.

2Appointed day

The day appointed for the coming into force of section 67 of the 1998 Act (daily rate of maternity allowance) is 1st October 2006, in respect of women whose expected week of confinement falls on or after 1st April 2007.

Explanatory note

(This note is not part of the Order)

This Order appoints the day for the coming into force of section 67 of the Social Security Act 1998 (c.14) (daily rate of maternity allowance) as 1st October 2006 in respect of women whose expected week of confinement falls on or after 1st April 2007.
