Paragraph 8

(1)

This paragraph applies where a person paying additional contributions in accordance with Method 1, as described in paragraph 1 of Schedule 5, elects to cease to pay such contributions in accordance with paragraph 4 of that Schedule.

(2)

Where this paragraph applies, the person is entitled to count as reckonable service—

A \times \frac{C}{B}

where—

A is the number of years (or part thereof) elected to be purchased,
B is the period for which contributions were payable, and
C is so much of B as had elapsed by the date on which the election has effect in accordance with paragraph 4(2) of Schedule 5.
