Section 9 Remission or release of prisoners etc from hospital: treatment conditionI1

In the Mental Health Act 1983, in the following places, for “effective” substitute “appropriate medical”—

• • section 50(1) (prisoners under sentence);

  • section 51(3)(b) and (4)(b) (detained persons);

  • section 52(5)(b) (persons remanded by magistrates’ courts);

  • section 53(2)(b) (civil prisoners and persons detained under the Immigration Acts).
