Explanatory note

These Regulations make consequential provision in exercise of the power in section 41(1) of the European Union (Withdrawal Agreement) Act 2020 (c. 1) (“the 2020 Act”).

Regulations 2 to 9 amend legislation relating to merchant shipping made in order to address deficiencies arising from the withdrawal of the United Kingdom from the European Union. The provisions being amended in this instrument will come into force on IP completion day by operation of paragraph 1 of Schedule 5 to the 2020 Act. The amendments made by this instrument substitute references to “exit day” in provisions (other than in relation to commencement of those regulations) with references to “IP completion day”.

A full impact assessment has not been produced for this instrument as no, or no significant, impact on the private, voluntary or public sector is foreseen.
