Regulation 16 Appointment of independent members to standards committees

(1)

The panel established under regulation 15 above shall —

(a)

consider every application that the relevant authority receives in relation to a vacancy for an independent member of that authority’s standards committee;

(b)

apply the criteria established by the relevant authority concerned under regulation 14 above when it considers applications for a post as an independent member of that authority’s standards committee; and

(c)

make recommendations in relation to any such applications to the relevant authority.

(2)

Appointments of independent members of a relevant authority’s standards committee shall be made by the relevant authority which shall have regard to the recommendations of the panel.
