Appendix ANNEX P LINE VOLTAGE

United Kingdom

Original text. Later amendments are not shown.

The characteristics of the main traction voltage systems (with the exception of over-voltages) are described in detail in the following table:

Nominal voltages and their acceptable limits in value and in duration.

The duration of voltages between U min1 and U min2 shall not exceed two minutes.

The duration of voltages between U max1 and U max2 shall not exceed five minutes.

  • The voltage of the collection bar in the substation including the line circuit breakers shall not exceed U max1,

  • voltages, in normal operating conditions, have to stay in the range between U min1 and U max2,

  • when operating conditions are interrupted, voltages in the range U min1 to U min2 are acceptable.

Relationship U max1/U max2

Every occurrence of U max2 must be followed by a level not exceeding U max1 for an indefinite duration.

Lowest tension of service

When the operating conditions are interrupted, U max2 will be the lower voltage limit for the air breakers when trainsets can run.

Note:

Values recommended for under-voltage tripping.

The under-voltage breakers with fixed or adjustable trips can be adjusted for values between 85 % and 95 % of U min2.
